Australian Government DIISRTE

interactive user-interface design, W3C and WCAG compliant HTML, responsive web design

Research conducted by the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISRTE) revealed that confusion and misconceptions existed amongst students as to the financial support available. The Department required a simple-to-use online resource to increase awareness, primarily amongst students.

Through a series of discovery workshops, Voodoo developed the concept of an interactive flowchart to efficiently guide users through a series of questions related to their situation and circumstances. Based on the responses to these questions, users are presented with an overview of the support that they are eligible for.

A combination of JavaScript and CSS3 animations were used to encourage interaction and provide users with a sense of progress.

Having considered the youthful demographic of the target audience, Voodoo deployed a Responsive web design solution to ensure an ideal user experience regardless of the device being used to access the tool.

Feedback gained through User-Acceptance Testing (UAT) was extremely positive. In particular, users responded positively to the flowchart concept and intuitive nature of the tool. Having recently been launched on the Study Assist website, initial feedback has been pleasing for the Department.
